please join me in welcoming the newest addition to the spears family - maddie briann spears!
britney's little sister jamie lynn gave birth to her daughter yesterday at mississippi southwest regional medical center in mccomb, mississippi. the baby weighed in at 7 lbs., 11 ounces.
fortunately britney was able to fly out to mississippi to be with her little sister for the momentous occasion.
i'm super excited to see pictures of the new baby but i'm sure we'll have to wait a little bit longer till jamie lynn is back on her feet before that happens. you *know* she is gonna get a sweet photo deal for those pictures. i think the name maddie is cute and i love the name briann because thats my oldest sister's name (although she spells it brianne).
even though the circumstances were not ideal, jamie lynn stood up to the plate and took responsibility for her actions. it's not the first time a sixteen year old had an unexpected pregnancy (no one remembers that the oscar nominated actress from whale rider got pregnant at sixteen too!) nor will it be the last so people should stuff making such a fuss over the issue. at least she has earned her own money to take care of the baby!
congratulations jamie lynn!!!!
there hasn't been any substantial britney news but i do have a few rumors that are circulating to report.
Rumor #1
according to ARTISTdirect News, brit is reportedly in negotiations to "relaunch her career at Las Vegas' Palms Hotel & Casino." supposedly, britney met with the Palms owner a couple weeks ago to discuss the matter. she supposedly could make around $10 million on the deal.
one thing to keep in mind is that ARTISTdirect got this information from the national enquirer which most likely means it is a crock of shit. they don't say whether she would just be doing a couple of shows in vegas to kick off a long tour or whether she would do a celine dion type of stint and do a long number of shows in vegas. if its the latter then i highly doubt she is only getting paid $10 million for it since celine dion made over $43 million in her first year at vegas. as much as i would LOVE for britney to go on tour, i really don't think she will be. she has too much going on in her personal life right now and i doubt that she would give up her already strict schedule of visitation with her two sons just to go on tour. even if she wanted to, i don't think her father would approve of going on tour so soon after her recovery.
Rumor #2
according to Yahoo News! UK, britney has been "tipped for a role on Broadway - playing Sandy in the stage version of Grease." the producers have been tossing the idea around after seeing britney guest star on how i met your mother.
ok, how amazing would it be to see britney play Sandy on broadway???? i'm just imagining her saying, "tell me about it, stud." i'm not getting too excited about it though because i don't think that is going to happen either. like with the vegas rumor, britney would have to reside in NYC if she was to perform on broadway...which means she would have to be 3000 miles away from her sons. considering britney has been on the upward battle of trying to win custody rights back, i don't think she would sacrifice her precious times with her sons just now and that would most definitley happen if she moved to NYC.
Rumor #3
this one has not been entirely confirmed yet but it's most likely true. according to popsugar, britney headed into the studio yesterday to shoot a cameo in the new pussycat dolls video. i can't wait to see what britney looks like in the video! even when she is out of shape, she is ten times hotter then the pussycat dolls. i'm assuming the video is for the new song when i grow up that the pussycat dolls premiered at the mtv movie awards last week. even though its not technically a britney related video, i'm going to post it anyways to get you excited for the video premiere. i would give this performance a B- though. the choreography is spot on but i really don't like the message of this song. unfortch a lot of little girls listen to the pussycat dolls and i don't think they should be encouraging their aspirations in such a shameless way. but i guess thats showbiz! thank god my little cousins are religious freaks so i don't have to worry about them turning into pussycat doll hoochies.
p.s. what's up with the main pussycat doll singing in her fake opera voice? it sounds horrendous!
this is a slow news week for britney (not necessarily a bad thing!) so i wasn't able to scrounge up anything too delicious. the only news i heard about brit is that she went on a trip to Costa Rica last week but also that she has already been spending time in the studio, working on her new album.
People magazine reports that she has been back in the recording studio with producers J.R. Rotem (who worked on her last album) and Sean Garrett (who produced toy soldier from her last album). People provides these nice quotes from both producers:
"She's great," Rotem told PEOPLE at the BMI Pop Awards in Beverly Hills on Tuesday. "She's like a master at what she does. She's a lot more experienced than most people. She just has the 'it' factor that not every artist has. So it's always nice to work with her."
Producer Sean Garrett was mum on specifics but says that he and Spears, 26, have "a few things in the works." At the BMI Pop Awards, Garrett told PEOPLE: "I'm just happy to see her back and recovering. She's really shaping up and getting her whole situation back together. I'm really proud and happy to see her."
An unnamed source adds:
"Britney is in the experimental stages of a new album," says the source. "She's trying to find the sound and direction she wants to go in, but nothing is set in stone just yet. She has been playing the piano a lot and just singing. She says she misses 'just singing.'"
i'm really excited to hear that britney is already working on her next album. i *love* her last album but it did not get as much praise as it should have. i think that is mostly due to the falling out that britney had with the media and some of her fans. but all of her TRUE FANS know that blackout was one of the hottest albums released last year.
even so, i always look forward to hearing new music from britney. it's what she does best - she always delivers the hottest dance tracks and i have no doubt that she will continue to do so for a long time. i do hope, however, that she gets some fresh blood on her new album and get some new producers in there to change things up.
yesssssss! the second episode of how i met your mother with britney as a guest star aired last night!
i am so happy for britney! she has been doing so well these days and i really think she is back on track to being the professional britney that we once knew. cheers and congratulations britney!!!!
yay!!!! can't wait to watch this new episode with britney in it. i thought she was hilarious in her first guest appearance so i *know* she will do a great job around this time too! GO BRITNEY! GO BRITNEY!!!!!!
yessss! the wait is finally over! i didn't want to post anything about it until the episode actually aired cause i was afraid that something bad would happen and the guest spot wouldn't work out. but i crossed my fingers and thanked my lucky stars and it did indeed happen! here it is for you all to enjoy - britney guest starring on how i met your mother!
this is it folks!!!!! the new britney video for break the ice has been officially released! i signed onto myspace this morning and read britney's new myspace blog about the video. here is what she had up:

my review of the video: wow! i really like this video! i loveeeee this style of animation and its great to see that kind of intensity brought to a britney music video. it kind of reminds me of the toxic storyline so maybe it is a continuation of that? when i first heard this video was going to be animated, i automatically thought of the animated segment of madonna's video music. this is definitley more sophisticated then madonna's video (oh man, i just remembered madonna had two animated music videos - this one too!).
here's a description of the video from wikipedia:
"Directed by Robert Hales, the music video of "Break the Ice" serves as an animated sequel to Spears' 2004 hit "Toxic". Credited with coming up with the concept, the video represents Spears trying to destroy her old image, her clones and the industry that has become her into what she is now (the men in suits represent the industry). The video ends with the words "to be continued..." with a hidden message as to what the follow-up outcome will be."
well, that explains a lot! thats pretty cool that britney came up with the concept herself. i'm pretty impressed. and i'm also really excited to see what single they will drop for the continuation of this story.
the only critical thing i have to say is that this IS my favorite song off the blackout album, mostly because i can always picture britney doing a sick-ass dance routine to the song. thats how i always pictured it in my mind when i listen to the song so its kind of disappointing to me to see that no dancing happened. but maybe she will incorporate a great dance to it for her tour...(crossing my fingers that she actually goes on tour!)
so this is technically last week's britney post since i forgot to do it on friday!
the people over at cityrag have posted a brilliant post on LOL britneys...ya know, like the LOL cats! they are pretty hilarious so i thought i would share! i know they are not the best pictures of britney but i still find them amusing. i especially love the ninja one!
so i decide to kick it realllll old school and post some videos that i found of britney on disney's mmc! i remember watching mmc when it was on the disney channel. i absolutely loved it! i even had a crush on ryan gosling back then. i remember when nsync came out and i told all my friends that those boys were from mmc and no one believed me but i was totally right. HAH!
i guess britney auditioned for the show when she was only 8! the producers thought she was too young but they introduced her to a nyc agent. she spent three summers at NYC's Professional Performing Arts School and appeared on broadway in a couple shows. she went back to try out for the show again at age 11 and she was hired.
here are some random vids of britney from the show. she's soooo freaking adorable in it!
hahaha, this vid is hilarious! so 90s!!! as you can see, britney's training in dance and gymnastics really helped her on the show. she's soo much younger then the rest of the cast. she really is singing the song but its obvious that it was pre-recorded since she is lip syncing. ummm, but whats up with the newspaper theme?? they even have newspaper OUTFITS!
they are *so* the 90s power couple. i really can't take all this cuteness, its too much for my head to handle!
and once again, pairing britney and justin together for this skit. they are so freaking adorable, LOVES IT!!!!!!
ok, watch this video while you can cause it will probably be taken down soon! two weeks ago, i found this clip and then a couple days after that, it was gone! it miraculously is back up again so make sure to watch it soon.
hahaha, oh man. i love this episode of punk'd. britney's rap is freaking ridiculous but i love it anyways. and i also love how britney and ashton turn the tables and punk everyone else. i don't know why brit is wearing that bandana and hat together but i don't even care. she seems so happy ...ahh, those were the days.
