i freakin love hayden panettiere. not only does she add some spunk to heroes as the foxy cheerleader but she is also an advocate against the japanese slaughtering of whales and dolphins. her confrontations with the japanese authorities have recently made headlines.
i subscribe to hayden's blog on myspace (yes i am a dork) and she posted a letter she wrote to the japanese government fisherman agency. this girl seriously kicks ASS!!
"HAYDEN’S LETTER TO THE JAPANESE GOVERNMENT

Below is a letter Hayden received from the Japanese Government Fisheries Agency. Below their letter is Hayden's response.

Dear Mr. Fukuda,
Rest assured our viewers and the public at large is appalled by Japanese whaling and fisheries practices. Even within your own country, recent polls show that over 77% of the Japanese public is against whaling while only 11% support it.
To say that Japan is carefully managing marine living resources for the future is a joke. Recent scientific studies have shown that over 90% of the world's large fish have been depleted by over-fishing and Japan's own factory-fishing fleets are largely responsible for this, decimating one species after another. Just recently, Japan was found to be in violation of its quota on endangered blue fin tuna. I cannot find one example where Japan has carefully managed any marine species.
In regards to dolphins and whales, Japan's blatant disregard for these species is unfathomable. Japan is cruelly and needlessly butchering over 20,000 dolphins and other small cetaceans every year. There is no humane way to kill a dolphin or whale and scientific research shows that dolphin and whale meat is unhealthy for human consumption. Your own Government studies show dolphin and whale meat can contain up to 10-16 times the healthful level of mercury and that elevated levels of mercury have been proven to cause birth defects, neural damage, and death. As a result, several Japanese supermarket chains have pulled dolphin and whale meat from their shelves due to the health risks. Despite this however, your fisheries agency continues to advocate for the needless killing of dolphins and whales.
In addition, your whaling fleet is now planning to kill over 1,000 whales in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary including endangered fin and humpback whales. There is nothing scientific about this slaughter. All the data being collected can be and is being collected through non-lethal means by bona-fide scientists, not bogus scientists like yours.
Recently, a representative for Japan's fisheries agency said:
"Whales are just as important, and no more special, than any other fish," says Japan Fisheries Agency spokesperson Hideki Moronuki, maintaining Japan's long-held position that marine mammals should get no special treatment for being warm-blooded.
Your scientists can't even tell the difference between a marine mammal and a fish. Do you realize how ignorant Japan looks to the rest of the world? Please be advised that we are telling all consumers to not purchase any Japanese made products until Japan stops killing dolphins and whales and we will be vigilant in this regard. We are determined to end Japan's brutally cruel and needless slaughter of dolphins and whales and I will do everything within my power to ensure this.
Sincerely,
Hayden Panettiere

just another reason why i love this girl. it makes me so happy to know that someone is helping to shed light on this horrible practice! some of you may know that one of my biggest dreams is to swim with dolphins. i even adopted a dolphin named freckles who lives in the bahamas through the dolphin communication project which is a brilliant organization that studies how dolphins communicate. dolphins are such beautiful and intelligent creatures and they should be honored and cherished. it's just disgusting what these fishermen are doing to them. if they really need to kill these animals for their livelihood then the japanese government should step in and pay them to NOT kill them.

omfg, will the goddess of sex please bestow her love upon me and let me have a threesome with milo ventimiglia and john krasinski?!?!???!?!??! dude, you KNOW that shiz would be HOT!!!!!
i'm seriousssssss, i want them sooo bad!!!!!
What shows are you looking forward to in the new fall TV season?
and of course, Heroes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
did anyone see the finale of heroes last night?? i was expecting a big let down but overall, i was pretty satisfied with how they ended the season. i totally don't think that peter died in that blast since he has claire's power to heal himself. i also don't think that nathan died either - although i don't know how he could have survived. the only way i think he could have is if peter absorbed all of sylar's powers when he was near him and somehow he gained a power that could help save nathan.
i also liked how they made the ending be about the petrelli's brothers because thats also a core element to the show. i thought that it was inevitable that nathan was gonna turn out bad but he proved to us that he really isn't a bad guy. oh yah, and i also liked how claire stood up to nathan and her grandmother when she jumped out the window. pretty bad ass! claire has been uber cheesy these past couple episodes but i think she did really well last night (or maybe the writers did well...).
oh and i am also disappointed that d.l. didn't die after getting shot by linderman. i rejoiced last week when i thought he had died. grrrrrrrrrrr, i just find his character to be sooo annoying and whiny. actually, in general, i hate the whole nikki/jessica storyline but i know that ali larter isn't going anywhere cause everyone thinks shes the hottest woman on the show. i think the reason why i am so frustrated by that story line is because they really haven't explained what her superpower is yet. i don't buy that her alter-ego is her twin sister...i think that linderman was behind it all from the beginning (which he told us in last week's episode) and led her to believe that her sister died...i think that her sister probably never even existed and her superpower is an experiment gone wrong somehow. oh well, hopefully they will answer more questions about her next season.
oh yeah, and what's up with simone's father making peter go back in time?? that was totally weird and awesome! i have no idea what his power is but thats some pretty powerful shit. argh, i love how they introduced us to all these new ideas and people but it's also really frustrating since we have to wait until september for the new season.
i decided i'm gonna spend the rest of my work day reading the heroes graphic novels online...i can't get enough of this show!
Edit: i also meant to mention that eclipse at the end of the episode and how it tied into the heroes eclipse that has been shown as the heroes icon. obviously that eclipse means more at the start of the next series and it's just another teaser...but i just had to point it out that i thought it was cool and i still have no idea what it will mean!
i just read perez and saw that fergie released her new video for her song big girls don't cry. and milo ventimiglia from heroes is in it!!!!!
(btw: perez doesn't like this song but i think it's catchy and cute. it took me awhile to jump on the fergie train but i'm officially on. CHOO-CHOO!!!!)
(Edit: Felipe - does this video make milo qualify for your bad boy list??)
so last night's episode of heroes was a snoozer. i can't believe they psyched us up for this episode and it was such a bore. they better deliver for the next two episodes or i'm gonna be pissed.
the only thing worth mentioning from last night's episode was the woman who played sylar's mother. as soon as she came on screen and started lisping, i was like "who the fuck is that actress???". it was killing me cause i could not remember where she was from. it finally dawned on me when she held up the snow globe and whispered something about "that's green..."
it's freakin audrey (ellen greene) from little shop of horrors! totally random and weird! i love how they kind of paid homage to audrey with the green line. i have to admit though that she did a pretty good job last night. mothers are always responsible for their little ones turning out bad and this was no exception. her psycho-ness definitely rubbed off onto sylar. it's like i always say when i see someone acting up --- RAISED WRONG!!!!
Golden Globe nominations just came out: here they are, along with what/who i think should win. my choices are in bold and italics! (note: i haven't actually seen all of these (err, most of these) but i have an opinion on them any way, even if it is not based in fact).
quick recap if you don't want to read through it all:
1) jennifer hudson should've been nominated for best actress, instead of supporting. i fucking hate beyonce so much for so many reasons (ask me sometime and i will write a list)
2) if sasha cohen wins, i will shit my pants (in a good way)
3) pissed that over the hedge got looked over; pissed that devil wears prada got nominated for - stupidest crap i saw all year (i read the book too and it sucked as well)
4) leo better win for something! i just wanna see that hot boy on stage - i LOVE that he has come back with a vengeance
5) i LOVE how justin kirk is nominated - once again, gotta mention that you should see angels in america immediately if you haven't yet - but i gotta give the award to masi oka who is the best actor on heroes, he makes me want to tune in every week.
