Inauguration - Here We Come!
my boss just gave me the go ahead to take next monday and tuesday off!!! that means that will and i can take a trip down to washington d.c. to participate in the inauguration of obama! we are going to be staying with his mother so luckily we don't have to worry about booking a hotel room (i heard most of the city is already booked up!). i am going to be renting a car for the first time in my life so that we don't have to put miles on will's car driving down (i have been 25 for almost a year now - don't know why i havent rented a car before now!). i am so excited!!!!
we don't have tickets to any of the "official" events like the many inaugural balls that are taking place. i would *LOVE* to be able to actually get a ticket to see obama getting sworn in but i doubt that will happen. apparently you had to ask your u.s. rep or senator for tickets. i called up all the connecticut offices and they said that all of the tickets have been given away - guess we should have started planning our trip sooner! oh well, i'm still crossing my fingers for a miracle!
we should still be able to go downtown to at least be in the vicinity of obama getting sworn in. there is a parade afterwards that i hope we will also be able to attend. i heard there are a lot of other activities being planned but i'm not really sure what is exactly going on. are any of my d.c. neighbors hip to anything??? i read an email from the beastie boys two days too late - they are performing at a club in d.c. on the 19th but all the tickets have been sold out! oh wells, i'm not the biggest beastie boys fan but it still would have been cool to see them perform.
this is such a historic and momentous occasion for our nation and i am so HAPPY and PROUD to be able to witness it first hand! my goal is to come back with an amazing story to tell my future children and of course, all of you!
