I'll Be Loving You Forever
ok i totally forgot to tell you all about seeing new kids on the block in concert last sunday!!!! it was such an amazing show! i went with my future sister-in-law yami, who also loved nkotb back in the day but never got to see them live. i have to admit, i was being a hater before the show - talking smack about how jordan knight got fat and how he totally wasn't going to be able to sing on key. I TOTALLY ATE MY WORDS! not only did jordan hit *ALL* the high notes, ALL THE BOYS SOUNDED&LOOKED AWESOME! i'm totally not even exaggerating either - they seriously put on a hawt hawt show!
what really made the whole experience so special and unique was that i got to see them in their hometown of boston. you could tell that they were in absolute heaven playing for beantown. on numerous occasions, donnie would look into the crowd and just be like BOSTONNNNNN!!! and the crowd would go fucking nuts. he even stopped the show a bunch of times just to say how grateful and how much it really meant for them to be back there. if you stop and think about it though, i bet they NEVER thought they would be performing to packed stadiums again. these boys were on TOP in the 80/early 90s...and then they dropped off the face of the planet. i remember that there was a serious backlash against the new kids. in my school, you couldn't admit that you liked them anymore because you would be labeled as a dork. to go from being on the top, to going so low - and then 15 years later to be on top again? that must be an incredible feeling!
another great thing about the show was that EVERYBODY was feeling it! the whole audience knew all the words to the songs and you could just feel the raw energy coming from the crowd. it was seriously one of the best shows i have ever seen - mostly because the new kids were feeding off the crowd's energy. it reminded me of those beatles concerts you see on T.V. where you can't hear ANYTHING but girls' screaming! it was such a great energy to be around. i danced, sang, and screamed so much that my whole body was sore the next morning and i almost lost my voice. the other cool thing was that everybody busted out their old new kids gear for the show! i wore my vintage NKOTB shirt that i've been rocking for years and i brought my new kids pillowcase to wave like a flag. what is CRAZY is that two rows ahead of me - not only was this girl wearing the same shirt as me, but she brought her pillowcase too!!! me and her totally had a moment. i saw another girl a few rows back that made a dress out of her new kids sheets!
okay so i said earlier about how i was talking mad shit about jordan. jordan was my favorite when i was in kindergarten (then i become obsessed with joey later). i started talking shit because i had seen jordan on the surreal life and he got kind of fat and was kind of a dick to the other celebrities. so jordan used to do this routine in the 80/90s on tour where he would come out on stage solo, with his shirt unbuttoned and blowing in the wind and would sing baby i believe in you. this routine was so hot - it would literally cause the pussy juice to flow out of the stadium back in the day!
i shit you not - jordan came out on stage, FIFTEEN FUCKING YEARS LATER, and did the same exact routine - and he looked EXACTLY THE SAME! i seriously lost my motherfucking mind! he had the six pack, the hair blowing in the wind - me & yami OFFICIALLY lost our shit! here is video of the routine i found from their toronto show:
seriously, i can't get over how good jordan looks! they ALL looked good. even jon, who is the shy one, he was such a little cutie patootie. you could tell that he is still kind of shy but he such a huge grin on his face the whole time. also, the dancing - totally amazing! i guess part of the reason why i wasn't expecting that much out of their performance is that i went to the spice girls earlier this year and the spice girls def made some mistakes. they forgot lyrics to their songs and messed up some dance moves. not so with new kids. these guys must have worked so hard on this tour because their show was seriously FLAWLESS! i really hope they release the show on DVD so i can buy it later!
oh yeah, jordan even did some of his solo stuff and so did joey! i think i was one of the only few people to buy joey's solo album stay the same a couple years back. (one of these days i'll blog about how i actually met joey before at an autograph session!)
if the concert is not sold out near you, i really really really recommend getting a ticket if you are or were a fan of nkotb. they put on a stellar show!!!!
