I loved the song before I really paid attention to the words. This video was especially awesome because the song lyrics appear on the bottom of the screen, and act to highlight the images and information in the song.
Aside from the awesome campaign video below, I was also impressed with the following interview Ron Paul had with NORML...
As unusual as it is to have a republican speak out for legalizing marijuana, Dr. Paul makes a very compelling argument that the Federal Government has no business telling you what drugs you can and cannot take. These are the sorts of values that I don't see anymore, and are traditionally republican. The Federal Government should leave citizens alone and give them the freedom to make their own decisions for themselves.
<I am aware that these videos show giant pot leaves. I'm not endorsing illegal drug use, but I do believe in the underlying message. The message is about freedom plain and simple and who doesn't love that?> - ob
I found this video online last night and it really spoke to me. I always considered myself a Democrat, but I've been giving serious thought to voting for Ron Paul. I find his ideas refreshingly different from the mainstream, and I like his return to the old values our country was founded on. My main question about voting for him is the ever present "elect ability" issue. I believe that if more people had been able to hear his message and consider him they might have been surprised by what they saw, but he was written off by the mainstream media and virtually ignored.
Interestingly he has been in the news because his book "The Revolution" just topped the New York Times Bestseller list.
Anyway, at the very least, the commercial has some pretty awesome CGI so it's worth a watch.
I needed a fresh start.
I'm a little reluctant to be back on Vox for private use. I'm amazed that you still can't back up entries here, and I hate not having that functionality since you never know when you'll need to wipe out an online presence at a moment's notice. But more people I gives a fuck about, and more people who gives a fuck about me are on this side of the pond. So here I will reside for now.
Add me as a neighbor if you'd like to hear me bitch. Otherwise, feel free to visit my public blog, singlespaced.com.
So the guy who does Stuff White People Like just scored a $300,000 book deal -- something I think we can all agree would never happen if the person who ran the site was not white. I still find the site pretty entertaining and funny, but Stuff White People Do is a site written by white folx that you can take to school with you.
(FTR, I got petted a lot by white folx when I was in high school too... Mystique can attest to that. I had the "pretty Asian hair." Also, if you never understood why I have steadfastly refused to read Memoirs of a Geisha, this is why.)
This is a bulleting I just posted on myspace PLEASE READ and help out in any way you can!
Also, here is the URL for Camp Lickalotta's myspace page. Please check them out and read about the wonderful thing they are doing for the LGBT community!
In my top friends you will find Camp Lickalotta. This is a lesbian couple who happens to be GREAT friends of mine, who are starting an LGBT campground where everyone is welcome and safe. These women have worked so hard to finally get this thing off the ground and now, out of the blue, the couple that owns the campground they are buying the land from are discriminating against their cause, making false comments and ultimately saying they want my friends and their LGBT camp site out of there. Here is the article http://www.shelbystar.com/news/campground_29228___article.html/beasley_camp.html
Please help us to contact anyone and everyone that would be of use to help these ladies out! Here is their original Bulletin (from Myspace):
" Lickalotta's their is an article that will go out in print tomorrow. Joe and Lynn Hoyle, from Golden Valley Campground have written this article. Go to shelbystar.com They have sold us out and have opened the flood gates of Hell for anyone that is full of bigotry and hate to destroy us. Yes, that includes the religious right...
Here is what we need for you to do, contact the news media, the HRC, the NAACP. everything, anything...newspapers, gay and straight, radio shows, tv stations and tell them that this is nothing less than religious persecution and terrorism here in America directed at fellow Americans. WE are tired,,,but we know with every one's help we can get through this. This article will stir up so much bigotry and hate it will have serious repercussion for ALL people.
Pray for our safety, pray for our event to be held, and pray that this will have a positive outcome. We are not only concerned for ourselves, but for all the other people that have to face this bigotry on a daily basis.
as always, never above you, never below you, always beside you...Love and peace...Nancy & Joanie
What's the biggest leap of faith you've ever had to take?
BECOMING A MOTHER.
How did you celebrate Valentine's Day?
Submitted by Stephen.
Well, Katie and I couldn't do much for V-Day this year, because it was during the week and we just wanted to have a chill night at home. So I came home and when i came through the door, I heard katie leave through the side door. Then the front door bell rang... So I opened the door and she was standing there with a tuxedo shirt on and holding flowers for me!! It was so cute! Then, I walked into the kitchen and saw this:
hahahah Chez Katie... and she wanted me to say it Chez Kay-tay so that it rhymed with chez... hahahah. So then she made me a card...
and on the inside, she made a pop-up heart....
This is what it says, she made up the poem herself.... :
Happy Valentine's Day from me to you,
I made you this card with some scissors and glue.
I love you more than I've ever felt,
And calling me Bubba makes me just melt. (Bubba is my pet name for her)
This day is for you, you have my whole heart,
Your face wakes me up with a beautiful start.
I swear I've loved you since my own birth,
I can't believe I'm with the prettiest girl on earth.
I love you baby,
Katie.
Is that not the CUTEST thing you ever read??? hahah i guess the poems are becoming a tradition... she wrote me one for my birthday too... so cute. I thought I blogged about it, i guess not... anyways.. so then, after that when we went to bed, she gave me my gift!!! It was a Journey Necklace!!
i love me some diamonds... I told her that I loved the necklace! I think it's so pretty! but it's sort of not practical for me, because it's pretty dressy... and i would never get to wear it! So she completely understood and we went back to the jewelers and i got diamond earrings instead!
I felt bad about taking the necklace back, but I wanted to be able to wear it all the time, and katie totally understood, she wanted me to have something i would get a lot of use out of... so she was happy too. I know Im a bitch, but frankly, I don't care.
So that was my V-day. it was pretty awesome.
I did a little something for Katie too... I don't have a lot of money right now with my new slave job and all.. but i managed to do something meaningful...
Katie and i don't have any pictures of us around the house. so I went out shopping and got a couple of cool collage frames and filled them with pictures of us and our animals. I hung them on the way V-Day morning and so she saw them right when she came in! She really liked them.
Anyways, that's it! I'm a pretty lucky girl!
